Primocanes – bear fruit on their primary cane (primocane) in the first year – great for cashflow & in protected environments (tunnels/greenhouses) you can get 2 crops per year or a long fruiting season.

Floricanes – bear fruit on their laterals (secondary canes) in the second year – usually better tasting & better yielding varieties

Again, with raspberries you get early, mid-season & late varieties and they all do require varying amounts of chill depending on the varieties. You can manipulate chill by moving plants into coldrooms or buying in long canes from a colder climate.
